Industry experts impart their thoughts and ideas on sustaining business with design

MD Giordano talked about her company’s experiences in helping OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) become OBMs (Original Brand Manufacturer).
Mrs Paola Giordano stressed the importance of executing product design in the grander scheme of things: “Product design is not a standalone activity and is part of a strategic process.”
Quoting the marketing and management guru Philip Kotler - “Strategic design is simply not a question of form.” - she identifies the importance of a successfull strategic design process into the interaction between all the corporate functions: from the product design to the building of a corporate brand and identity (focusing both on local and internation markets) untill the precise planning, implementation and follow up of strategic communication and activities.
L' AD Paola Giordano ha sottolineato le motivazioni per cui il product design sia cruciale ma non possa rimanere isolato: " Il Design di prodotto non è un'attività a sè ma è parte di un intero processo strategico".
Citando il guro del marketing e management Philip Kotler - " Il Design stategico non è una sola questione di forma"- ha identificato l'importanza dell'interazione del design strategico con tutte le funzioni aziendali per il successo di un processo di cambiamento: dal product design alla costruzione di un corporate brand e di una identità (puntando sul mercato domestico ed esteri) fino alla pianificazione precisa, alla implementazione ed al follow up sulle strategie di comunicazione e delle attività.

Mr Hughes examined the causes and effects of deforestation from the last 2000 years and underlined the issues that nowdays architects and designer should tackle identifying the key points though examples of the recent high-profile projects .
A striking number he showed was that only 0.2 percent of tropical forest depletion can be attributed to export, whereas 94 percent of the cases occur as a result of population pressures and poverty.
He concluded mentioning the alternative ways to design sustainably as the judicious use of designing with wood that is still currently regarded as "uncommercial".
Mr Huges ha analizzato le cause e gli effetti della deforestazione degli ultimi 2000 anni ed enfatizzato le domande che architetti e designer di oggi dovrebbero farsi, identificando i punti chiave tramite recenti progetti di spicco.
Un dato impressionante è derivato dal fatto che solo lo 0.2 percento della deforestatazione può essere attribuito alle attività di esportazione, mentre il resto dei casi è da attribuirsi agli effetti delle pressioni e delle mancanze della popolazione.
Ha concluso discutendo dei modi alternativi del " Design Sostenibile" come l'uso consapevole del legno che è ancor oggi visto come "non-commerciale".
